Stand straight with your hands in prayer pose. Raise them in an upward salute. Inhale deeply, gently bend down and place your palms next to your feet. Exhale and step back to the downward facing dog. Stretch until your body is in the shape of an inverted ‘v’, and remain for 1 to 3 minutes. A rejuvenating stretch for regulating blood pressure. Relieves a headache, insomnia, fatigue and stiffness from sitting all day.
Like to get connected with cosmic energy? Nataraja is the name of Lord Shiva, and his dance represents cosmic energy. Stand straight in tadasana. Shift weight to your left leg, bend the right leg from behind and bring it upwards. Hold the right foot with the right hand. Raise your left hand, the thumb towards you, and pinky finger; forwards. Stay for 30 seconds, and repeat with the other leg. Develops concentration, and balance, while eliminating stiffness of the spine and backache.
While all asanas are generally performed on an empty stomach, Vajrasana can be done at any time, and doing it immediately after aneal stimulates digestion. Sit on your heels, hands on the knees, head straight, and keep eyes closed. Concentrate on the inhaling and exhaling of breath, and remain in this position for 5 to 10 minutes. Improves digestion, prevents acidity, and is good for people suffering from sciatica and lower back pain.
Stand straight with feet wide apart. Raise your arms to shoulder level, palms facing downwards. Touch the right shin with your right hand, keep spine straight, and left hand towards ceiling with palm facing downwards. Gaze at your outstretched hand and take deep breaths. Repeat on the other side. Sheds extra fat from hips and thighs, treats back ache, stimulates blood circulation and reduces stress. Practice regularly and see a natural glow on your skin.
The practice involves gazing at an object for sometime, and then visualizing the same object with the eyes closed. Sit comfortably with erect spine. Place a candle horizontal to the eye level and focus at the tip of the flame without blinking. Now close the eyes, and visualize the flame at the center of the eye brows for about 5 minutes. Improves eye sight, concentration, memory, calms the mind, and cures sleep related disorders. Benefits people who sit in front of the computer for long hours. When mind becomes quite, the soul will speak!
